Class Description

2nd-6th grade Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:00 pm Aug. 7 - Sept. 25 Join Mrs. Courtney for an 8 week, dynamic theater class that prioritizes nurturing creativity and building strong collaborative relationships over traditional performance outcomes. Through a series of fun and engaging activities, learners will delve into the art of creation, emphasizing the process of ideation, experimentation, creative exploration, and collective problem-solving. At the end of the 8 weeks, parents/guardians will be invited to experience a demonstration of the joy of creative collaboration. In this class, expect to learn the following skills: 1. Develop teamwork skills through collaborative theater activities, emphasizing the importance of working together towards a common goal. 2. Cultivate communication skills by encouraging students to actively listen, share ideas, and provide constructive feedback to their peers. 3. Foster problem-solving abilities by engaging students in creative challenges that require them to think critically and creatively to find solutions. 4. Promote empathy and respect for others by exploring different perspectives and understanding the value of diverse talents and contributions within a group setting. 5. Enhance social emotional learning by celebrating personal achievements that benefit the collective good, reinforcing the idea that success is not measured by individual accomplishments alone. 6. Encourage inclusivity and appreciation for the unique abilities of each individual, highlighting the power of collaboration in achieving shared goals and fostering a sense of community within the classroom Questions can be directed to Courtney at courtprimus@gmail.com.
