OUR MOTTO IS SIMPLE: THE CHILD IS THE PRODUCT, NOT THE ARTWORK.

Art Yard founder, Lacy Ezell, is a former high school art teacher, artist, and mom of 2 who has over 15 years of experience as an art educator. Lacy learned very early in her teaching career that teaching art without choice eliminates creative thinking, skill development, and overall enthusiasm in student artwork. She developed a passion for helping her high school students find a voice, and immediately saw their difference in the way they viewed the arts. Little did she know this method had a name: Process Based Art!
In March 2021, after leaving the classroom and raising her children, Lacy began sharing her process art activities with a small group of local moms in parks and her own backyard in the midst of COVID. Since that first outdoor class, TN Art Yard has expanded into a plethora of course offerings and events for kids all around middle Tennessee, now with a brick and mortar studio on Main Street in Spring Hill, TN.

Each class is student led and focuses heavily on process art and hands on learning, perfect for every level of artist. It is a place for kids to explore and learn through experiences with art, a place to make messes, a place to experiment and explore new art activities, but most importantly is a place for children to connect with one another and learn in an uplifting environment.

But what is process art? What should I expect at the studio?
Process art is a form of art that focuses on the experience over the final product. It is often open ended and heavily focused on materials! When you enter the studio, your child will be able to explore sensory stations, play dough table, makers space, painting room, and variety of ever changing materials in our space that are specifically curated to spark the imagination and creativie thinking.
